Giovanni Battista Sidotti
Giovanni Battista Sidotti was an Apostolic Church missionary who was born in 1668. He embarked on a quest to spread Christianity throughout Japan. He disguised himself as a samurai because it was a perilous circumstance at the time. He was arrested and imprisoned until 1714 when he died. He is known as “the final missionary” by many.

His skeleton was discovered in greater shape than usual. After a 2 million yen excavation, the body was discovered in 2014. They were able to reassemble him from his skeletal remnants. Although the skull had been damaged, the forensic anthropologists were nevertheless able to finish the assignment.
