Edward Hermann Played Max
All of the Lost Boys looked pretty young, except for their ringleader, who looked like a middle-aged man. It is easier to fool people this way, right? It is revealed that the nebbish video shop owner Max is actually the head vampire in a surprise twist. This one probably came as a surprise to many viewers. Max’s reign, however, is brought to an end suddenly and unexpectedly with a stake through the heart, of course.
Portrayed Real-Life Figures
Before he portrayed Max, Edward Hermann was mostly known for playing real-life historical figures on TV, like Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Lost Boys gave him a chance to play something different, and he apparently leaped at the opportunity. “I was approached with the script, and I read it and thought it was great. You know, anything to get out of a suit and stop playing historical characters,” the actor admitted in the documentary The Lost Boys: A Retrospective.
