Stopped Acting
Needless to say, McCarter didn’t press charges against Schumacher, but the experience likely made an impact, as McCarter didn’t pursue acting long after The Lost Boys. After a few later roles, including appearances on TV shows like Route 66 and The Twilight Zone, he focused on composing and music production. He also went into filmmaking and even ventured into management, overseeing the career of his co-star Corey Haim in the ’90s.
A Fan Favorite
McCarter eventually left Hollywood and moved to Tampa, Florida. He got a job in telecommunications and tried his best to balance work and being a single parent. Nevertheless, he still made time for appearing at conventions. He became a favorite with fans because of his approachable nature. That makes it much sadder to hear that he passed away in 2015 due to a liver condition. McCarter was only 52 at that time.
