Despite its popularity, the US government only recognized Area 51’s existence in 2013, and entrance to the base is tightly forbidden, with high-tech surveillance systems and armed guards deterring any would-be trespassers. The appeal of the unknown, as well as the fear of what lurks behind the barbed wire fence, have made Area 51 one of the most prohibited and interesting places on the planet, as well as a symbol of humanity’s unending desire for knowledge and discovery.

Room 39, also known as Bureau 39, is a clandestine North Korean institution suspected of engaging in illegal activities in order to generate foreign currency for the nation. It is thought to have been founded in the late 1970s and is suspected of counterfeiting foreign currency, drug trafficking, and other illicit operations.
