Jeff again examined the space, but it felt like the buzzing only became louder the more he looked. It seemed as though the sound had become permanently ingrained in his memory and was impossible to get rid of. It was so awful that Jeff almost believed he was going crazy.

Months went by, and Jeff finally made the decision to stop paying attention to the basement. But when his wife finally inquired as to what was going on, it appeared as though she didn’t trust him. That truly wounded his ego and made him have to keep working there. He requested Mary to go down there and make sure he was still in his right mind before he could do that, though.
