Finding a hole in the shed
At the back of the shed, Kenneth discovered a barely visible hole. “Here!” he shouted to Lyla and immediately reached for a key hidden under a stone. With trembling hands, he put it in the lock and turned it while fear and hope mingled inside him. Slowly the door swung open, creaking ominously, and Kenneth peered inside. His breath caught in his throat. “Please, let him be here,” he whispered, before stepping into the dimly lit room.

As Kenneth’s eyes adjusted to the twilight, he recognized Pablo lying quietly on old blankets. “Pablo!” he shouted and rushed to him. The boy blinked up sleepily. “Daddy?” he mumbled and smiled weakly. Kenneth hugged him tightly as tears of relief streamed down his cheeks. “You’re safe now,” he whispered, holding Pablo close. Lyla appeared in the doorway, her face filled with both shock and joy as she saw the picture.
