Saving George
The police did not recognize this residence as a crime scene, so they rushed in with the sole intention of getting George to the waiting ambulance as soon as possible. While their quick thinking was ultimately crucial to George, they probably should have been more careful not to disturb anything in the house, as they would be returning there sooner than they had anticipated.
Difficult Family Situation
One of the police officers, Marty, who helped transport George to the hospital, volunteered to contact George’s loved ones and let them know the news. However, he soon realized that the old man’s family situation was quite complicated, and his knowledge of it only made him feel sadder. George had no living parents; they had cast him out of the house when he was 18 and had no intention of taking him back.
