While casting, Kutcher wanted Mr. Kornfeldt to play an intimidating actor. Kutcher explained, “In the script, I call Mr. Kornfeldt ‘Sir’ a lot,” he said. “And I was wondering, ‘Who am I going to call Sir?’ Who is a bigger guy, who has an imposing aspect, but doesn’t have to pretend to be intimidating? Yup, the one, and only Tom Selleck was the perfect actor to play Mr. Kornfeldt in Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher’s 2010 film, Killers.
