A Gold Record
Owned Since: 2002
Valued At: Over $1,892*
Although Queen Elizabeth had never sung a note, a Gold Record for album sales was awarded to her. In 2002, the Queen threw a huge party called the “Party at the Palace.” This jubilee was celebrated in her fiftieth year as the Queen of England. EMI released a live CD recording of the concert. In the first week, it sold over 100,000 copies. Thanks to reaching a gold record milestone, the Queen got an honor. She is the only royal who has been awarded such an award.
Westminster Abbey
Owned Since: 1066
Valued At: Priceless
Westminster Abbey is a touristic hotspot for anyone visiting London. It’s such a part of British culture that Comcast’s NBC shot a Friends episode just outside it. The abbey has been the home of each British coronation since 1066, but a particular religion does not regulate it. A “Royal Peculiar” is instead dubbed, meaning that it serves the sovereign. Many iconic events have occurred inside the Abbey walls, from Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding to the funeral of Diana in 1997.
