Front Row At Wimbledon
Owned Since: 1922
Valued At: $222,000*
It is the Holy Grail of sporting events for tennis fans to land a seat in the Royal Box at Wimbledon. Tickets can’t be purchased. Instead, a member of royalty must invite one into the inner sanctum. Although the Queen does not attend the competition herself, Kate Middleton has been spotted taking part in a match on several occasions. At Wimbledon, front row seats can go for nearly $3,000. In the Royal Box, situated in the best position on the main court, there are 74 seats, marking its value somewhere in the $222,000 region.
Two Tortoises From Seychelles
Owned Since: 1972
Valued At: $20,000*
Most of us have pets, but probably not the two giant tortoises of Aldabra. She saw two of those special animals when the Queen was in Seychelles. They moved with her to London Zoo instead of to Buckingham Palace. They lived there for some time before moving on to a new pasture. Purchasing a baby Aldabra tortoise costs somewhere in the region of $10,000, making this a very expensive parting gift. One tortoise (Jonathan) is, in particular, a staggering 188 years old, almost breaking the current Guinness World Record.
