Variables were never an easy idea to grasp, and this kid demonstrated that you must be particular or you may not receive exactly what you were searching for. In these situations, partial credit is a smart idea.

Anyone who took this test was simply being realistic. Let’s ignore the math and focus on the more serious matter at hand: Bob just ate 29 candy bars. Who would do that? The person who completed this test saw the ridiculousness of the situation and provided a solution based on facts. What in the world was this teacher thinking? The question is absurd. Nobody requires so many candy bars.
