Ensuring Patience
‘Look, Margaret, I swear it will be worth it,’ I said. Her gaze furrowed, but I refrained from giving too much away. ‘There are only a few items we need to check first,’ I said, attempting to quell her interest. She hesitated, as if to consider my remarks. ‘Okay, Lisa,’ she moaned, ‘but don’t keep me waiting too long.’ Her patience was becoming thin, but I knew she’d appreciate our efforts eventually.

Observing Margaret
At our next family gathering, I observed something unusual about Margaret. Her irritation seemed to evaporate, leaving behind a trace of interest. ‘Have you noticed Mom today?’ Tom inquired as we cleaned up. “Yeah, she’s… calmer,” I said, mildly shocked. Her acceptance was slight yet significant. It gave some optimism that once everything was out in the open, everyone would be at peace. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen.
