The door suddenly opened, and there was Margaret standing there. I was just getting comfy on the couch with a cup of coffee when I noticed that Margaret was standing there. As a matter of fact, she did not even try to knock in a manner that shown courtesy. “Lisa, we need to talk,” she stated on the day of the announcement. Upon the moment that her blue eyes met mine in a demanding manner, I quickly became aware that something was obviously amiss. The moment Tom looked up from his laptop, he raised his eyebrows in a questioning manner. When he asked his mother, “Mom, is everything okay?” he did it with a suspicious tone. On the other hand, I was conscious of the fact that it was not only a social appeal. Margaret had came with a certain objective in mind, and that objective was to have a conversation about the subject of money.

Margaret emphasized, “I need that money now,” and she did not leave any opportunity for bargaining inside her statement. Her tone was authoritative, as if she was adamant that she did not allow herself to wait. The only thing I did was nod, and I kept my thoughts to myself. If only she had known that the delay was part of a larger plan. While clearing his throat, Tom said, “Mom, there are some things that we need to sort out first.” Unimpressed, she folded her arms over her chest. She answered, “I’m just saying the clock is ticking,” indicating that she was obviously not interested in hearing any more of our explanations being offered.
