Tom and I couldn’t help but be impressed by Margaret’s performance. “She’s almost convincing,” Tom said, his tone slightly amused. Despite her harsh tactics, we remained focused on the prize—a conclusion that would not jeopardize our ideals. I took a deep breath, knowing that everything will eventually fall into place. We kept concentrated, knowing that revealing our plan at the appropriate time was critical.

Sarah’s Frequent Visits
The doorbell rang more frequently now, and Sarah’s visits provided much-needed distraction. Over cups of tea, we spoke about everything except family drama. “I’m here anytime you need to vent,” she said truly. Her presence was like a balm, calming the anxiety that seemed to permeate every crevice of our home. With Sarah there, the thick air lifted slightly, allowing Tom and myself to breathe more easily.
