News spreads quickly within families, and Margaret appeared to be relishing the attention. Whispers about her allowance demands spread across the household. Apparently, she had been talking about her impending monthly income, which sparked even more conversation. Some family remained suspicious, while others were impressed. Tom rolled his eyes after hearing one of the more overblown anecdotes. “Can you believe she’s already spreading stories?” He grumbled, visibly annoyed.

Tom expressed his dissatisfaction to me personally a few moments later. “Mom’s so sure of her entitlement, it makes me question everything.” His voice was filled with disappointment. “Did I miss anything growing up? Was she always like this?” he wondered, stroking his forehead in thought. I put a soothing touch on his shoulder. “We’ll figure it out,” I said. It wasn’t simple to address entitlement concerns inside the family.
