Extraordinary Presence
As vampire ringleader David in The Lost Boys, Sutherland made a really menacing impression. The star’s on-screen look, inspired by rocker Billy Idol, gave an iconic physicality to the character – cool but at the same time creepy. “[Sutherland] has the least amount of dialogue of anyone in the movie, but his presence is extraordinary,” Schumacher said on The Lost Boys: An Introspective. Where’s the lie, though?
Immersed In Moviemaking
Sutherland’s presence also shone through in later films like Young Guns (1988), A Few Good Men (1992), and Dark City (1998). The actor teamed up with Schumacher several times. Aside from The Lost Boys, they did four more movies, including the 1990 film Flatliners. Sutherland found himself immersed in moviemaking the following decade, but a role on television truly brought his stardom to the next level.
