Dreams Of Becoming A Doctor
Originally, Newlander had dreams of becoming a doctor. As a matter of fact, he took up acting to be able to pay his tuition fees. However, fate intervened. Schumacher came to Newlander’s acting class and gave a talk. This stood the young actor in good stead when auditioning for The Lost Boys. After he portrayed Frog on the big screen, Newlander made another major appearance in the 1988 film The Blob.

If you’re wondering if Newlander became a doctor, the answer is no. Instead of medicine, he went to New York University to obtain a bachelor’s in acting. From there, Newlander ventured into writing and directing and created WikisoapTM, an online user-created soap opera. However, Newlander eventually found himself in front of the camera again when he appeared in Lost Boys: The Thirst, where Alan Frog becomes part of the undead himself.
