72-Hour Wedding
George and Amal Clooney arrived to the wedding aboard taxi boats across the canals crowded with photographers on September 27. Locals flocked to the canal banks and bridges to catch a glimpse of the bride and groom. Initially, the couple attempted to hide from the media and bystanders, but they quickly changed their minds. “We were sitting in the boat when I said, ‘You know what? Why are we running away? Why are we hiding? We should not be ashamed of ourselves.’ “And we got up and waved,” Clooney told THR.

72 Hour Wedding
Expensive Ordeal
After four days of festivities, the Clooney wedding rapidly became the season’s most talked-about event. With the private hotel ceremony completed, the couple married the next day in a civil ceremony that lasted only fourteen minutes. Former Rome mayor Walter Veltroni presided over the wedding, which was witnessed by their boat driver, Alessandro Greco. According to E! News, the total cost of the 72-hour wedding was believed to be $4.6 million. Amal Clooney may not have started off as a Hollywood A-lister, but she was surely one by now.
