For someone who was previously uninvolved in the celebrity world, this was now a part of Amal’s life that she couldn’t avoid. So, after a summer of celebrating their engagement, George and Amal made their red carpet debut on September 7, 2014, at the Celebrity Fight Night event in Tuscany, Italy. Amal and Clooney looked stunning in matching silk black costumes in front of the cameras.

Instead, George stepped in front of the world to accept his Humanitarian Award, and, like any happy groom-to-be, spilled some details about his upcoming wedding. “Here in Italy, I met my wonderful bride-to-be, whom I will marry in a couple of weeks, in Venice of all places… “I just want to tell my future wife, Amal, that I love her and can’t wait to be her husband,” he said on stage. Talk about a rocky start!
