A Live Civil War Cannon Shell
Plenty of city sewer systems tend to rely on old mains where all kinds of antiques can be randomly found. Plumbers on an excavation in Vicksburg, Mississippi found a live Civil War cannon shell. It was most likely left behind after the city was bombed back in 1863. They eventually had to call in military specialists to remove the shell since it was a serious hazard to them and everyone in the vicinity.

Miniature Liquor Bottles
One business in California found itself in some hot water. It had a backed-up sewer main. The sinks and toilets in all of their bathrooms were overflowing as a result. Plumbers were promptly called to the scene to help solve the issue and clean out the problematic drain. It turns out that an employee had brought in miniature bottles of liquor, drank them at work, and then flushed them down the toilet to hide the evidence.
