Reese Witherspoon is probably best known for starring in Legally Blonde, in which she plays a law student by the name of Elle Woods. It is hard to imagine this character played by anyone else, but Christina Applegate was the first choice for this role. She turned it down because she did not want to get typecast as another “blonde” actress. Mind you. She had just wrapped up Married with Children at the time. This is why she did Just Visiting, which proved to be a flop.

Kevin Costner – Shawshank Redemption
A lot of people still regard Waterworld as one of the worst films in the history of cinema. It had a huge budget, but the movie’s the production and reception proved to be complete disasters. Kevin Costner should have really stuck to The Shawshank Redemption instead of this hot mess. After all, it is now thought to be one of the best films ever made. Sadly, he chose to turn down the chance to portray Andy Dufresne to work on the action film. We all have our regrets, right?
