Did you know that he was in the running to star in Footloose? He did such a great job in Risky Business that he caught the eye of the casting directors. The actor turned down Ren McCormack’s role to instead star in All the Right Moves, whereas the other film became an ‘80s hit.

Even before 1999, Wil Smith had already established himself as a great actor. He had already appeared in several blockbuster hits by then. We are not surprised to hear that the Wachowskis wanted him to bring Neo to life in The Matrix. He backed out because he felt hesitant about all the special effects that they planned to use. As we all know, Keanu Reeves got the part instead and made history. On the other hand, Smith starred in a Wild Wild West movie, which earned the Razzie Awards for Worst Screen Couple and the Worst Original Song. That must suck.
