Jeremy Strong – Succession
This talented actor first tried out for the role of Roman Roy in Succession. It was not a matter of talent. Jese Armstrong is one of the show’s creators and said that Jeremy Strong would be a great Roman, although Kieren Culkin simply fit the role more. In fact, Armstrong even said that Culkin “is the character” and “a slam dunk.” Even so, they offered Strong the part of Kendall Roy.

Colin Donnell – The Affair
Did you know that Colin Donnell had been looking at playing Cole Lockhart? However, this part was given to Joshua Jackson instead. Donnell was pretty close and actually tried out for the part thrice. Sarah Treem, the co-creator of the series, said that “he wasn’t quite right.” Despite this, she liked him well enough. As a matter of fact, she came up with the role of Scotty Lockhart all for him. It must have been nice to be able to play the brother of the character that you wanted. How flattering!
