Because Andrea tells him that she believes it is more vital that he return to work than that he care for Tommy. She goes on to say that the city council cannot function without him because he is such a wonderful politician. But Henry only heard one thing: Andrea didn’t want him to spend time with Tommy because she didn’t want her secret to be uncovered!

But Henry goes along with it. He says, without looking at her, that he will return to work shortly and that she is correct. Andrea appears content, as if she has everything under control. Henry despises her but refuses to show it. His heart breaks as he realizes that a divorce is unavoidable.
