When the Buckskin Fire Department in Arizona received a complaint regarding possible human remains in the Colorado River, La Paz County Sheriff deputies teamed up with them. When a diver descended to inspect with a video camera, he saw two skeletons enjoying a tea party. Thankfully, the skeletons were false, and they were both sitting straight up on lawn chairs. One even had on a bib and aviators. With the date August 16, 2014, the placard read “Dream in the River” and was held by the other. Was this a piece of art? Got rid of your Halloween decorations? A shrine of some kind? Possibly never.

There are many twists and turns in this shocking tale. Video game developer Atari discovered in the fall of 1983 that its much-maligned E.T. The video game Extra-Terrestrial was a complete failure. Atari therefore made the decision to address its excess inventory, and it covertly buried a large portion of the stock in a landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Since nobody thought that the “Atari Dump” was real, it became the stuff of urban legends. the game had been such a flop. That is, until 2014, when an investigation in Alamogordo showed that the Atari Dump was, in fact, authentic from the start. The best alternative to attempting to market Atari’s game was to bury millions of copies in the New Mexico desert because it was so despised.
