Make Your Own Personalized Throw Pillows
Making a dorm room feel comfortable or just like home is a difficult task. You might think it will take a whole lot of work, not to mention, money. There are so many sources online you can find different projects and items for great prices. From DIY headboards to creating your own bookends for that little bit of extra flair in the room, you can truly find it all. One project we wanted to focus on is creating your very own pillow covers. This way, you’ll have the complete freedom to customize them in any way you’d like, plus, it completely changes the entire look of a room. Just let your personality shine!
Materials:
- 20″x20″ pillow insert
- White cotton pillow covers
- Paint (fabric or acrylic)
- Fabric medium
- Paintbrushes and/or sponges
- Painters tape (optional)
How To Do It:
This is the part where the fun begins. If you want to go for a more minimalist and clean look, you can create a geometric pattern with the painters tape. Then all you need to do is fill in the shapes with paint by stifling it on with a painting sponge. Don’t be afraid to mix and match with colors! You might find something you really like by doing so.
If you want something a little more personalized, you can draw free-hand. If you’re still unsure, look online for some inspiration! Whether you’re looking for something specific or not, we’re sure you’ll find a design that catches your eye. Still, if you want something more abstract, you can always stick to patterns like polka dots or stripes. Just go with the flow and see where you get!
