Ravaux’s plan to teach the tenants a lesson impressed many. His actions were fully supported and it was even said that all malicious tenants should pay the price. Today, however, everyone admires the way Ravaux handled the situation. Many people argued that the property Ravuax had damaged did not belong to the family. The family sublet it to someone else, and it seemed the new owner would have to deal with this nightmare in their place

Ravaux had made a big mess to get the other owner to clean up, one commenter rightly observed. That might even be illegal and the new owner could sue him for doing that on his property. But Ravaux was a shrewd man with a few tricks up his sleeve. He had made sure that the new tenants, and not their landlords, were responsible. To avoid trouble, he had also made sure his actions were legal
