George also expressed his astonishment to Marty at the speed with which his son had arrived at the hospital to be with him. They were unable to simply drive over because they both had homes on the opposite side of the county. The flight took at least six hours, but they arrived at the hospital just three hours after making the call. George had no idea that they had already arrived in the area. Which was to be expected, given the limited interaction between the grandfather and his offspring.
