The true cause is a disease called discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE), which causes significant skin lesions in those who have it. The face, scalp, and arms are frequently affected by these wounds, which develop an inflamed, crusty, and scaly red patch. DLE patients are also more susceptible to sunlight and ultraviolet rays.
