Many directors have their own fantasy cast for their films, and Schumacher was not an exception. He was determined to get Wiest for The Lost Boys though he wasn’t optimistic. The actress had won an Oscar for her performance in Hannah and Her Sisters the year before, so Schumacher assumed that a vampire movie wouldn’t really interest her.
