An investigation on ginger farms in Weifang was undertaken by China Central Television in 2013. (CCTV). Even though it is only approved for use on select crops, including peanuts, roses, cotton, and sweet potatoes, the pesticide aldicarb was sprayed on ginger at a rate that was 3-6 times greater than the allowed level.

According to studies, pesticides were identified in ginseng at nine locations in China and one in Hong Kong. These pesticide mixes are “very toxic,” according to the World Health Organization.
