Radio Station Owner
Parton bought two Nashville radio stations, WSEV 930 AM and WDLY 105.5 FM, in 1991. She renamed the FM station “Dolly’s Station” and set aside a section of the Dollywood entertainment park for daily live radio broadcasts. Every day, that is, until Dolly sold both stations in 2000.
Tony Nominee
In 2009, Dolly Parton was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Musical Score for her work on the Broadway musical adaption of the hit show 9 to 5. Parton and company were defeated by the team in the wake of Next to Normal.
