Symbolic Food
At an Amish wedding, celery is one of the most symbolically significant foods. It’s used to make soup and a variety of other dishes and decorate vases and tables in place of flowers. In reality, celery is used so often in wedding ceremonies that a family is starting to develop. Some are often taken as a sign that they are planning a wedding before the engagement has been made public.
