A large hole discovered
Behind the flowers and bushes, they finally came across a large hole that Scooter had dug – wide enough for Pablo to fit through. Kenneth’s heart tightened as one of the men shouted, “Over here!” and pointed to the freshly churned up earth. Kenneth knelt down, his head racing, and suddenly it was clear how they had disappeared. This realization hit him hard, but drove him to act immediately. In a serious voice, he looked at the men: “We have to find them, and we have to find them now.”

Kenneth crawled through the hole himself and searched feverishly for a clue. Just behind the fence, he discovered a small sock that clearly belonged to Pablo. His hands trembled as he picked it up. “That’s Pablo’s,” he breathed, overcome with fear. This tiny piece of clothing, otherwise so insignificant, suddenly became a symbol of his growing panic. The officers exchanged serious glances, well aware that time was running against them. “We mustn’t lose a minute,” one of them urged.
