Julia, too, was cautiously optimistic. After she cautiously introduced herself to her 6th and 7th-grade students, she began to feel like everything was swimming… And that’s before the outside temperature starts to rise. Julia strategically positioned herself beneath the air conditioner, but she didn’t feel any cooler. Her skin was beginning to flush, and she realized, “Oh no… I’m sweating! The horror!”

She tried to stay in class by fanning herself with a book, embarrassed. But all she could think about was the hot summer sun, which had gradually risen above 90°F. The day began to feel endless as the hours passed. While the students were overjoyed to meet their new art teachers, Julia was concerned that she would not make a good impression on them on that particular day.
