Rocky’s Understanding
When I mentioned Marla’s comment about missing treats, Rocky’s ears shot up and he barked sharply. It was as if he fully understood, and everyone nearby paused, giving him curious glances. Could he really be trying to tell us something? I chuckled awkwardly, scratching my head. “Well, guess you’ve got a story up your sleeve, huh, boy?” I said, though deep down, I began to realize Rocky’s intelligence might be even sharper than I remembered.

Once we got home, Rocky couldn’t settle. He roamed the living room, circling and sniffing restlessly, every sound making him twitch as if danger lurked around every corner. “Come on, buddy, what’s going on?” I sighed, sinking into my chair. Watching him stirred memories of the past, moments of tension and uncertainty he had clearly faced alone. Even at home, Rocky behaved as if he were still on guard duty.
