Nervous Walks
Taking Rocky out for walks became something of a spectacle. He led the way but frequently paused, eyes scanning the horizon as if expecting someone to appear. “Easy there, boy. It’s just us,” I’d say, trying to soothe his nerves. He’d wag his tail, ready to move on, but those pauses spoke volumes. He was watching, waiting—and though I couldn’t yet understand, I knew I needed to see what he saw.

Alley Discovery
One day, Rocky made an unexpected turn, tugging me toward a narrow alley near the park. His insistent barking bounced off the brick walls, urging me to follow. “What’s in there?” I asked, peering into the shadows. I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary, but Rocky kept barking, almost pleading for me to notice. I leaned closer, realizing I might have missed something important, and started tuning in to the subtle alerts he kept giving.
