Steve Carell Then

Carell began his acting career in a touring children’s theater company, subsequently appearing in the comedy musical Knat Scatt Private Eye, and in a 1989 television ad for the restaurant chain Brown’s Chicken. In 1991, Carell was a member of the Chicago ensemble The Second City, where Stephen Colbert served as his understudy. Carell inked a deal with NBC in 2005 to feature in The Office, the American adaptation of the British TV series by the same name. Carell played Michael Scott, the quirky regional manager of Dunder Mifflin in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in the series, a mockumentary about life in a mid-sized paper supply firm. NBC renewed the adaption for a second season despite low ratings in the first season because to the anticipated success of Carell’s film The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and the series went on to become a huge hit.
