Sarah’s Observations
Not long after, Sarah came to me with hesitation in her voice. “Dad, I saw them drawing something in my room,” she whispered, her eyes wide with both curiosity and unease. “Did you see what it was?” I asked gently. She shook her head. “It looked strange… like weird patterns.” Her words unsettled me, and though I kept calm for her sake, my mind raced with questions. What kind of drawings were they making, and why in her room?

Emily’s Dismissal
I shared Sarah’s account with Emily, hoping it would finally convince her something was amiss. But once again, she brushed it off. “Luke, kids have wild imaginations. Drawing patterns is nothing unusual,” she said, her tone light, almost dismissive. Frustration simmered inside me. How could she not see what was unfolding? I exhaled slowly, realizing I couldn’t rely on her perspective anymore. If I wanted answers, I’d have to continue watching things more closely on my own.
